How to wire your 3 Phase AC Output Wind Turbine to a Battery Bank

Using a 3 Phase Rectifier

3 Phase Rectifier Diagram

If you have purchased a wind turbine with 3 Phase AC output, you will need to convert the AC output to DC before connecting it to your battery bank.  To do so, the 3 Phase AC wiring from your wind turbine will connect to the 3 terminals at the top of the rectifier and your DC wiring will connect to the positive and negative terminals at the bottom of the rectifier.

We recommend using 3/8″ Spade Terminals for quick, easy connections.  Missouri Wind and Solar uses 90 Amp 3 Phase Rectifiers with their wind turbines.

If you are connecting more than one wind turbine to your battery bank, please see our post on Wiring Two 3 Phase Rectifiers

Please note that this diagram is for reference only.  Please refer to the specific wiring instructions included with your rectifier and/or wind turbine.
